In the wake of the Los Angeles wildfires, a retired firefighter describes critical, split-second decisions firefighters make to try to save lives. He also discusses how to support first responders who often suffer from PTSD.


Gary L. Warren, Jr. is a 21-year veteran of the Columbia, Missouri Fire Department, holding the ranks of Firefighter, Engineer, Lieutenant and Battalion Chief. He has also served as Chief of Training, Shift Commander, Public Information Officer and Hazardous Materials Technician.
